Bas Azamshahpur is a historically significant village located in the
Hansi–Jind belt. In the local dialect, the word “Bas” means settlement.
The addition of “Azamshahpur” to the village name points towards its
medieval historical roots. It is believed that during the Mughal period,
the area was named after a ruler or influential figure known as Azam Shah.
At present, the village is led by Sarpanch Mr. Pradeep, who is focusing
on strengthening basic infrastructure such as paved streets and the
expansion of street lighting facilities.
The village is considered politically and socially aware. Elders hold
a respected position in the social structure, and the Panchayati Raj
system functions very effectively here. Economically, the village is
completely dependent on agriculture, with paddy and wheat being the
main crops. Farmers have adopted modern agricultural techniques, which
has resulted in increased per-acre productivity.
Women of the village actively participate alongside men in farming and
dairy production. From a cultural perspective, folk songs and raginis
form the soul of local festivals. The spirit of brotherhood is so strong
that the entire village comes together for collective work. The fertile
soil and the friendly nature of its people make Bas Azamshahpur an ideal
village in this region.
